Course Objective

The purpose of this dass,is to provide an analysis of human body from an aesthetic point of view, based on the findings on the anatomic structur of the body, the bone and the musde struckture.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The students who take this class are expected to; have fundamental knowledge about the anatomic struckture of a human body from an artistic point of view,
2   learn how to utilize the acquired anatomic knowledge in the creation of works of art,
3   have a solid foundation on how to utilize the human figure in their own personal artworks,
4   possess knowledge about the propositions and dimensions of the human body that they can put to use in figurative works,
5   learn to make necessary studies in order to improwe the effectiveness of their observation,and have the opportunity to compare their own drawings made in the studio to anatomical drawings and synthesize,
6   learn about the importance of anatomy in art history by examination of examples of painting,in which human anatomy plays a significant role.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Students are informed what anatomy is,and how significant it is in art .Human skeletal system is explained in detail.
2 A drawing study is made,with the help of the information gathered about the skeletal system,by utilizing a skeleton and a skull,
3 Pencil drawing study with the help of a skeleton and a skull continues.
4 Students are informed about the muscle struckture.A pencil drawing study begins,with the help of a live model.
5 After a brief instruction about ratio and proportion,a pencil drowing study of a live model is made.
6 Pencil drawing study of a live model.
7 Pencil drawing study of the areas of hands and the feet of a live model.
8 Pencil drawing study of a live model in order to comprehent the anatomic struckture of the human face.
9 Pencil drawing study of a live model in order to comprehent the anatomic struckture of the human face.
10 After a quick written exam to test the knowledge of artistic anatomy,drawing studies of alive model is continued,which aim to put the knowledge about the human anatomy into use in artistic production.
11 A study from molds of hand and foot is made.
12 A study of a live model with charcoal is made,that utilizes various light sources to reveal the human muscle struckture better.
13 A free live model study is made,in which the students are free to use any material they prefer and make use of things they have learned during the semester.
14 The free study continues.End of semester evalution.

Assessment Criteria

It's taken into account how much anatomic knowledge a student has gained. The success in the transformation of anatomic knowledge into artistic production is evaluated. Also taken into consideration is if the homeworks were done on time,and an evaluation is made to see if these homeworks possess sufficient quality. Attendance to the class too is considered.
