Course Objective

Discussing about the Museology concepts and contemporary theories in the world and Turkey. Analyze on the structural identity of Museology and especially improve Boutique Museums. Evaluate of Museum themes, exhibition design, implementation methods with the curatorial issues.

1   1. Define the basic concepts in Museology,
2   2. Explain the main developments related to the formation of museums in the world and Turkey,
3   3. Explain the role of museums in contemporary cultural context,

Assessment Criteria

Students will prepare a study supported by visual on chosen museum,
Students will design examples of the museum concept,
Students will prepare reports of curatorial work for the show of exhibitions and collections,
Course Points will depend on (1) participation in class, (2) quality of answers to questions asked by the instructor and class project work, (3) contribution of the students to create a positive learning environment.

Course Policies and Rules

1. 80% of participation of the classes is necessary.
2. All kinds of plagiarism will result in disciplinary action
3. Nonattendance in the course not to be regarded as a valid excuse of late homework. 4. Late project delivery will decrease the points equivalent to a letter grade for each day of delay.
