The objective of this course is to enable students to speak fluently and follow talks in different contexts.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   students are expected to be able toidentify various structures, expressions, words within the context they are used
2   students are expected to be able to differentiate formal and colloquial language
3   students are expected to be able to analyze different talks on various subjects and express opinion about the mentioned subject
4   students are expected to be able to explain the context of the talk, the purpose of the speaker and the flow of thought
5   students are expected to be able to speak English fluently in oral communication

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1. 1. Lectures: Lectures are designed in a way that students will discuss and share their knowledge on the determined topics
2. 2. Films: They are of utmost importance in developing students listening skills and analyzing different cultural elements
3. 3. Student Presentations: These are presentations where students start and lead the discussion on a topic chosen by themselves. Student s sharing why s/he has chosen the mentioned topic and what s/he thinks about the topic helps her/him develop oral communication skills.
4. 4. Midterm Examination: It is used in evaluating students performance in the first half of the term
5. 5. Final Examination: It is used in evaluating students performance throughout the term
