Course Objective

Learning the description of culture and its importance in the society, knowing the relationship between language and the society, language and culture. Identify the cultural components/factors in written and spoken language.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Understand the place of language in social life
2   The description of culture and the place of cultural values in the society. recognising the fundamental components that construct the culture
3   Knowing the relationship between language and culture. The effect of language to culture and culture to language.
4   Recognising the verbal/spoken cultural components of the Turkish Society
5   Recognising the written cultural components of the Turkish Society
