Course Objective

The course objective is to develop an awareness for intercultural communication based on differences and similarities between Turkish and German culture by comparing German speaking cultures, knowledge about their cultural systems and those of Turkish culture using visual, audial and audio-visual material.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Know Turkish and German cultures
2   Differentiate Turkish and German cultures by developing awareness of intercultural communication
3   Compare German speaking cultures and knowledge about their cultural systems
4   Explain contents of knowledge about applied and cultural geography of Turkey and Germany
5   Discuss prejudices in language teaching

Assessment Criteria

The assessment of learning outcomes will be based on written assignments and participation to 20% which consist of answering questions related to theory or text content. Mid-term and final exams will be assessed by the same method.
