Course Objective

Realise and evaluate the semantic facts in analysis of word, text or any other cultural items. Hold a morphemic/monemic analysis in the base of word. Able to find the coherence and cohesion status in the text and comment on the text and/or intertext

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Meaning, semantic facts, semantic analysis
2   Knowing the differences between various method and applications in semantic analysis
3   Evaluate the commentation of different text types
4   Hold a study and analysis on semantic studies and semantic subjects
5   Know the differences between comment/interpretation, and their types, analysis and evaluation of the texts
6   Evaluate and criticise the books that are specified for the objectives of the course

3 The concept of isotope/localisation and its types
4 The semantic cases: monosemy, polysemy
5 Comprehension and conceptualisation.
6 Connotation and denotation
7 Text and the meaning. Coherence and cohesion
8 Review of the subjects
9 Text and the meaning: anaphora, cataphora
10 Differences between narration, commentation and examination
11 Prototypes and stereotypes. The construction of social meaning
12 Word fields according to some disciplines. Semantic field. Word network formation.
