Course Objective

Discussing contributions of Anatolia to the developments of civilizations and cultures, semiologic analyzing of historical traces constituting the Anatolian culture

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Discussing the historical importance of the archaeological museums. 2   Discussing cultures of ancient civilizations in Anatolia. 3   Determining the plastic and semiotic importance of Leiter Anatolian motifs. 4   Discussing the reflections of Old Anatolian culture today. 5   Determining the importance of Anatolian Civilizations in man history. 6   Determining the importance of ancient Anatolian civilizations.

Week Subject Description 1 Old Anatolian Civilizations 2 Mounds in Anatolia and their tracks in life (Göbeklitepe,Kültepe, Alişar, Çatalhöyük, Alacahöyük) 3 Pottery art in Hittite (terracotta) cultural elements in decorations (Bitik Vazosu/Kutsal Evlenme -Sacred Marriage-) 4 Abstract approach in the The sun courses with material, shape and form 5 Animal figures and caps in the form of animals (Ankara Museum of Anatolian Civilizations) 6 Ancient texts / myths and cultural items 7 Semiotic analysis of figures and descriptions of reliefs in Ivriz Rock Reliefs 8 vize 9 portrayal style and expressivity in the reliefs and small statues (clothes, everyday tools, border motifs, the fabric folds, hair and beard descriptions) 10 Historical and cultural significance of master Leit motifs; Semiotic analysis of colored depictions on Bitik Vase, head of Medusa in Didim, statue of Mother Goddess Cybele, reliefs depicting shaking hands of Komagene King I.
