General Description

History

Department of Physiology was established in 1978 with the approval of the Higher Education Council based on branch of Faculty of Medicine. Physiology MD program started to education in 2015. Duration of the program is a total of 4 semesters including two semesters of courses and two semesters of thesis. The program language is Turkish.

Specific Admission Requirements

Bachelor s Degree; having obtained at least 55 from relevant branch of Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES) or from exams equivalence of which are accepted; in case of graduate of Faculty of Medicine having obtained at least 50 from Medical Specialty Exam (TUS); having obtained at least 50 from Foreign Language Exam (YDS) or from other foreign language exams equivalence of which are accepted or at least 55 from the exam held by DEU Foreign Languages Institute. Transcript; having obtained at least 65 from the Post Graduate Science Exam.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Our department accept course credits that students take previous same program of other university by approval of The Committee of Health Science Institute.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Second Cycle (Master's Degree) Programme with thesis is comprised of courses (at least 54 ECTS), a seminar (2 ECTS), and field study (4 ECTS) and thesis (60 ECTS) credits. İn total 120 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB / S / TP grades.

Profile of the Programme

The objectives of this programme are to provide the candidates with a focused knowledge of physiology and medical physiology; a general knowledge of cellular physiology and the mechanisms of the functional properties of the organ systems; as well as a detailed knowledge in his or her area of research. Program includes required courses each semester with elective courses in different areas of physiology. Students may choose courses from other divisions.

2   Define the human body by examining as systems and having the knowledge about the normal function
3   Examine the mutual interaction of the systems of the body during normal process
4   Define the vital variables in detail in a healthy human
5   Having the ability to and evaluate the vital variables (blood pressure, pulse, ECG, neuron conduction velocity and respiratory function tests) of normal functioning of the body in the laboratory
6   Having the ability to do original work on Physiology Master s Program
7   Having the ability to determine deficiencies by specializing in a particular subject area in the field
8   Having the ability to produce the suggestions for deficiencies in the field
9   Having the ability to implement criticism and self-criticism
10   Having the ability to comply with the ethical principles

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Students are evaluated with the success of 1midterms, 1 final exam, homework and projects. To be successful in courses, the student should be taken at least 75.
