Course Objective

This course aims developing skills to create a step to create space on a stage, costume and stage design, decor and design models with the help of the three-dimensional design practices.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Have the knowledge of visual presentation and professional drawing skills in accordance with the requirements of contemporary design that will allow to make the right presentation as market demands
2   Improve the ability of transforming pictorial works into three-dimensional products in the field of performing arts design and to produce high quality products.
3   Develope skills to design for different demands and to produce alternative solutions in production
4   Analyze and find right arrangement of the design requirements and to evaluate objectively
5   While creating the design, to demonstrate realized decor elements with its aesthetic and functional values considering its visual quality.
6   Within the cross-disciplinary interaction in the field of the performing arts, to be able to run projects while working in teams

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1.Courses
The instructor, guide students to practice scale models. Directs students diversifying and developing these exercises and ask them to present their ideas with possible inspiring resources. Students will be asked to present the ideas that inspire them with their visual samples and sketches during design process.

2.Reviewing Sessions and Discussions
In addition to the class activities, the practices to develop their design skills upon theatre are asked from students as assignments. The reviewing sessions about assignments-according to their presentation deadline-will be held each week in the first half-hour period of the course by the instructor.
it will be encouraged that the students submit their views on designs and to participate in class discussions.

3.Tutorials
Students will be guided to find their starting points in assignments and the projects they complete during courses, and will be informed about the problems and their solutions that they may encounter about decor and costume realization.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Course evaluation contains, first be on time in the class ready to start with supplies and utensils; creativity in designs, invention, being parallel to the selected starting point, follow-up care of the application and assignments. All class activities and assignments will be scoring according to these principles.

Student participation points to be obtained, (1) the state of attendance, (2) the student's answers to the questions asked by the instructor during the class and quality of project during class (3) and on the student's contribution for the creation of a positive learning environment.

The student will develop his/her design skills upon the applications and exercises are hold in the course.

Course Policies and Rules

1.It is obligatory to participate 70% of the classes in one term.
2.Any kind of plagiarism and attempts will result in disciplinary action.
3.Being absent in the class won t be regarded as a valid excuse for the late delivery of homework/assignments or projects.
4.Late project for each day of delay deliveries will drop points equivalent to a letter grade.
