Course Objective

To give students the ability to use basic information regarding notes, rhythms and measures.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Name and recognize notes on treble clef.
2   Write and sing whole, half, quarter and eight notes.
3   Name and sing dotted quarter and dotted eight notes.
4   Explain and differentiate simple and compound meters.
5   Write one-voice melodic dictation sixteen measures in length.

1 Writing and singing of whole, half, quarter and eight notes on treble clef.
2 Solfeggio exercises with dotted notes.

6 Simple and Compound meters; and their distinctions.
7 Solfeggio exercises.
8 One-voice melodic dictation exercises.
9 Solfeggio exercises.
