Course Objective

To give students the ability to use basic information regarding notes, rhythms and measures.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Name and recognize notes on treble and bass clef.
2   Write and sing whole, half, quarter, eight and sixteenth notes.
3   Recognize and sing solfeggio pieces written in Major tonalities.
4   Identify basic concepts of minor tonalities.
5   Write one-voice melodic dictation in C Major and G Major.

1 Writing and singing of whole, half, quarter and eight notes on treble and bass clef.
2 Solfeggio exercises with dotted notes.
3 One-voice melodic dictation exercises: C Major.
4 The concept of tonality: minor tonalities.
5 A minor
6 Major tonalities: F Major and B flat Major.
7 Solfeggio exercises.
8 One-voice melodic dictation exercises.
9 Solfeggio exercises.
10 One-voice melodic dictation exercises.
11 Solfeggio exercises.
12 One-voice melodic dictation exercises.
13 Review of all topics.
