Course Objective

The aim of this internship is broaden the knowledge, skills and attitude that the students have gained in previous years, apply the health promotion,treatment, support and rehabilitation issues in a coordinated way and gain the relevant knowledge and skills that a physician in a primary health care setting has to possess.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Manage the first encounter in the patients that apply with a health problem
2   Adopt a patient centered approach in the management of health problems that arise in their living environment
3   Comprehend the patient perspective besides diagnosing the disease
4   Create an effective partnership on a basis of respect and develop an appropriate communication with the patients
5   Associate the decision making process with the prevalance and incidance of the health problem in the community
6   Apply and coordinate promotion, protection, treatment, support and rehabilitation issues in health care

During the internship period the assessment are based on competency and evaluated as "satisfactory/not satisfactory"

DEUMF Rules and Regulations
Article 24
(4) In the 6th year the internships are evaluated as satisfactory/not satisfactory . In order to be qualified as satisfactory he/she has to attend 90% of the related clinical and laboratory applications, complete night duties and all the other responsibilities depicted in the curriculum and have all these registered in his/her log-book. In case of failure the rotation is repeated.
