Course Objective

To learn fundamental concepts of genetics and provide a background in all areas of classic Mendelian genetics. To have basic knowledge about Mendel's basic postulates and the additional insights that modern genetics has brought to this field. To successfully move on and master advanced topics in genetics.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   : Understand Mendel's first and second laws and how they relate to cytogenetics.
2   Predict the outcome of crosses including the use of the Punnett square.
3   Compare and contrast incomplete dominance and co-dominance and predict their modes of inheritance
4   Describe and explain multiple alleles, multiple loci and multiple effects of a single gene.
5   Solve quantitative genetics questions.
