Course Objective

To investigate and application about basic biological principles.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   : provide the student with a clear observation and application of the basic concepts and principles of Biology 2   analyze and describe the samples involving plant cells: qualitative and quantitative analysis and light microscobic analyses of the samples 3   observe mitotic cell division in a plant cell and classify vegetative and generative plant organs 4   understand and describe the water metabolism in cell, plant and environment 5   develop laboratory skills that allow a student to perform experiments and analyze data based on the concepts listed above.

Week Subject Description 1 Knowledge about general rules of the laboratory 2 Use of microscope and preparation of material for microscopy 3 Examination of different cells under microscope 4 Biological buffer and their preparation 5 Examination of subcellular structure under microscope and taking samples from biological materials 6 Examination of subcellular structure under microscope and staining methods 7 Observation of cell membranes and substance transport through the membrane 8 Midterm exam 9 Examination of substances containing carbon in cell under microscope 10 Experiments of respiration and photosynthesis 11 Examination of photosynthetic pigments 12 Observation of cell division 13 Chromosome staining and their examination under microscope 14 Observation of different organism groups 15 Final exam (Evaluation of Lab. Report)
