Course Objective

To introduce the goal, history, philosophical and pedagogical foundations of Social Studies. To get the student comprehend the relation between Social Studies and Social Sciences and the relations between the disciplines of Social Sciences.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Comprehension of the stages that Social Sciences and Social Studies have gone through until today.
2   Comprehension of the relation and the differences between the Social Sciences and the Social Studies.
3   Recognition of the concepts Social Studies and Social Sciences.
4   Recognition of Social Science disciplines.
5   Comprehension of the relations between the Social Science disciplines.
6   Recognition of the basic structure of the Social Studies program.

7 Main concepts of Geography and its relaionships between other Science disciplines.
8 Midterm Exam
9 Main concepts of Phsychology and its relationships between other Social Science disciplines.
10 Main concepts of Sociology and its relationships between other Social Science disciplines.
11 Main concepts of Antropology and its relationships between other Social Science disciplines.
12 Main concepts of Political Science and its relationships between other Social Science disciplines.
