Course Objective

The objective of this course is to make teacher candidates improve their sociological thinking ability, critical thinking skills, acquiring awareness of their culture, yet showing tolerance of other cultures, to maintain that they develop an attitude related to the subject.

1   Acquire basic concepts of Sociology
2   Get a perspective on society, culture, structural features of social relationships
3   Evaluate social events and facts with an integrated approach
4   Maintain an empatic approach towards other cultures

1 Definition of Sociology, theme, place and importance among Social Sciences.
2 Rising and developing of Sociology.
3 Interactions between individuals, basic concepts explaining structural features of communities and groups.
4 Social system, social structure, social status, social role, social organization, social institution.
5 Social change, social break-down, culture, value, norm, socialization and personality.
6 Definition of educational sociology, content and development.
7 Cultural alienation and education.
8 Midterm Exam
9 Social mobility and education.
10 The fact of globalization ve its impact on the education system.
11 Society of information and education.
12 Migration as a fact and educational problems as its consequences and solutions.
13 School as a social system and its functions.
14 School-environment relationship. School, crime, violence, mass communications.
15 Final Exam
