Course Objective

The aim of this course, is to give information to teacher candidates about political geography and the main perspectives regarding with political geography, to get the students to comprehend in a systematical way by scrutinizing on scale of the World and for Turkey physical, human and economical factors in political geography, and political, military and economical organisations on the world; to teach the factors that affect the countries' policies, to transfer the effects of these factors on development of countries comperatively, and to interpret national and international policies that Turkey should follow.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to analyse the emergence of the states and their power resources.
2   To be able to classify of states according to political structures.
3   To be able to make evaluations about the politically problematic regions in the world.
4   To be able to analyse, in Balkans-Caucasians-Middle East triangle, the position of Turkey amongst Central Asia-Caspian Sea Basin countries and European countries and African countries, and the advantages-disadvantages that this causes.
5   To be able to make evaluations about operational objectives of regional and global political organizations.
6   To be able to interpret on the political activities within the country and results of these.
7   To be able to comprehend how to be transferred "patriotism" acquisition to students in scope of Turkey's geopolitical-geosociocultural, geoeconomical and geostrategical position and importance.
