Course Objective

In the scope of this course, the aim is to clear the basic concepts of environment and environmental issues; perception of basic environmental issues and global and country wide reasons; set essential steps to do in order to solve these problems.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Gains universal perspective by considering environmental issues in the World and in Turkey, their reasons and regional distiributions
2   Gets some knowledge on environment-natural resources, the relation between usage of natural resources and environmental problems
3   Comprehends conscious usage of natural resources in a world where needs are limitless but natural resources are limited
4   Understands the importance of environmental conscious and learns how to train enviromentally conscious individuals
5   Learns effective applications to avoid environmental issues or to reduce the effects
6   Learns how to solve environmental issues

1 In the Frame of Dissolving of Ecological Balances: Ecological Cycles, definition of environmental issues, scope, types, reasons (development process) and a general look at the results.
2 Environmental Pollution; a-Air Pollution (Acid rains)
3 Environmental Pollution; b- Water Pollution
4 Environmental Pollution; c- Soil Pollution
5 Environmental Pollution; d-Radioactive pollution
6 Environmental Pollution; e-Noise and light pollution (Factors, results and prevention)
7 Environmental Pollution; f- Food pollution, g- Destruction of the species
8 MIDTERM EXAM
9 False Usage of Land; Destruction of the Natural Flora; Reduction of Forests, Erosion, Desertification, Destruction of the Species; False Usage of Land; a- False Usage of Land (Generally), b- Desturction of the natural flora-reduction of the forests

14 Upsurge in Population and Environmental ıssues as a Consequence; a-Environmental Problems that Urbanization cause: III- Solid Waste (garbage) Problem Solutions fort he environmental Issues and a General Look at the Precautions (Environmental conscious and Environmental Protectiveness, Environmental Effect Evaluation, Ecological Agriculture, Sustainable development, etc).
