Course Objective

To provide for students to learn by analyzing, on regional scale, general characteristics of physical geography (characteristics of land forms, climate, hydrography, soil and vegetation) and of human characteristics (population, rural-urban settlement, culture, agriculture, industry, transportation, trade, tourism), of Turkey.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to apply geographically dividing into regions criteria to any area.
2   To be able to evaluate any region of Turkey according to natural and human characteristics which any region has. To be able to put forth development criteria which are suitable for geographical conditions that regions have.
3   To be able to make regional comparisons by considering geographical differences among regions.
4   To be able to put forth opinions for being removed the inter-regions imbalances of social, cultural, economical by starting out inter-regions differences.

1 Region division, criteria that are used in dividing regions into, dividing Turkey into regions.
2 Aegean Region: Characteristics that characterize the region from other regions, characteristics of physical geography of the region (land forms, climate, hydrography, soil and vegetation).
3 Aegean Region: Human and economical characteristics of the region (population, rural-urban settlements, agriculture and stockbreeding-forestry, industry, transportation, trade, tourism).
4 Mediterranean Region: Characteristics that characterize the region from other regions, characteristics of physical geography of the region (land forms, climate, hydrography, soil and vegetation).
5 Mediterranean Region: Human and economical characteristics of the region (population, rural-urban settlements, agriculture and stockbreeding-forestry, industry, transportation, trade, tourism).
6 Marmara Region: Characteristics that characterize the region from other regions, characteristics of physical geography of the region (land forms, climate, hydrography, soil and vegetation).
7 Marmara Region: Human and economical characteristics of the region (population, rural-urban settlements, agriculture and stockbreeding-forestry, industry, transportation, trade, tourism).
8 Black sea Region: Characteristics that characterize the region from other regions, characteristics of physical geography of the region (land forms, climate, hydrography, soil and vegetation).
9 Black sea Region: Human and economical characteristics of the region (population, rural-urban settlements, agriculture and stockbreeding-forestry, industry, transportation, trade, tourism).
10 Eastern Anatolia Region: Characteristics that characterize the region from other regions, characteristics of physical geography of the region (land forms, climate, hydrography, soil and vegetation).
11 Eastern Anatolia Region: Human and economical characteristics of the region (population, rural-urban settlements, agriculture and stockbreeding-forestry, industry, transportation, trade, tourism).
12 Southeastern Anatolia Region: Characteristics that characterize the region from other regions, characteristics of physical geography of the region (land forms, climate, hydrography, soil and vegetation).
13 Southeastern Anatolia Region: Human and economical characteristics of the region (population, rural-urban settlements, agriculture and stockbreeding-forestry, industry, transportation, trade, tourism).
14 Central Anatolia Region: Characteristics that characterize the region from other regions, characteristics of physical geography of the region (land forms, climate, hydrography, soil and vegetation). Human and economical characteristics of the region (population, rural-urban settlements, agriculture and stockbreeding-forestry, industry, transportation, trade, tourism).
15 Final Exam.
