Course Objective

The aim of this course is to teach the prospective teachers studding at the Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology how spreadsheet and database software can be used affectively. In addition it teaches basic knowledge and skills on how to use email creating address book opening and monitoring a group health and ergonomics of computer usage.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Explanation of the objectives of using spreadsheet software, introduction to its screen, explanation of file operations (opening, saving, printing, publishing, closing). Entering erasing moving copying data and creating series.
2 Explanation of how data can be formed, forming on condition and explanation of data characteristics. Forming templates with numbers, words, date etc. Simple calculations.
3 Forming calculation tables by using a spreadsheet, writing formulas, explanation of the usage of pre written functions, making mathematical logical and textual practices
4 Forming graphics, introduction of the characteristics of graphics, graphics formation and its practices
5 Data acquiring, ordering data, filtering, grouping, sub addition etc.
6 Macros, Standard and user defined functions
7 Explanation of the objectives of using spreadsheet software, introduction to its screen
8 Midterm
9 Explanation of the features of data, forming tables, steps of creating a database
10 Forms and reports
11 Questions and getting data from outside
12 Macros and SQL
13 E-mail software, organizing an address book, monitoring e-mails, personalizing and organizing, monitoring calendar file, timing and monitoring meetings
14 Creating and monitoring a group Health and ergonomics of computers.
15 Final exam
