Course Objective

The aim of this course is to equip the prospective teachers studding at Computer Education and Instructional Technology Department with basic information and skills regarding the basic concepts of computers, components of hardware, computer ethics and the application fields of computers. In addition it teaches how to use a word processing and presentation software.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Introduction of the syllabus and the explanation of the basic concepts regarding computers
2 Introduction to the basic components of computers (CPU, input-output devices, storage devices and other peripheral devices) and explanation of their functions
3 Security in computers and the Internet, computer crimes and its consequences, computers and ethics
4 Effective use of operation systems, personalization of OS and monitoring it and introduction of support software: archiving software, audio and video playing software, screen recording applications etc. Introduction to word processing and explanation of their usage
5 General introduction of a word processing screen. Starting word processing software, saving, printing, sending it to the Internet, closing and their applications
6 Creating professional texts by using forming features; using titles, explanation of how font and paragraph adjustments are done, Its applications
7 Making tables and contents tables
8 Mid Term
9 Creating a drawing object
10 Creating foot note, last note, bibliography, table of pictures and Adding index.
11 Intro to PowerPoint screen. PPT views, adding new slides, choosing templates, adding text, graphics and Word art, formation, using real slide, adding foot note, upper note, date foot note, last note, time and page number, deleting slides
12 Using filling effects, running slides, adding bridges, adding buttons, adding effects
13 Adding multimedia features (audio, video, animations etc)
14 Question and feedback pages, creating main menu, adding exit Saving and printing PowerPoint
15 .Final exam
