Course Objective

Giving the prospective teachers the syntactic structure of French language and provide them with the skills and attitudes which will let them analyze different types of French sentences.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Apprehending the basic syntactic features of the French language.
2   Being able to recognize the syntactic categories of French.
3   Being able to recognize the formal structures of the syntactic categories of French.
4   . Being able to recognize the formal features of the syntactic structures of French.
5   Being able to recognize the functional features of the syntactic structures of French.
6   Being able to use the syntactic structures of French.

3 Word groups: Adverb, conjunction, preposition
4 Syntactic categories: Noun group and its elements
5 Syntactic categories: Noun group and its elements (continued)
6 Syntactic categories: Noun group and its elements (continued)
7 Syntactic categories: Functions of noun group
8 Midterm exam
9 Syntactic categories: Verb group and its elements
10 Syntactic categories: Function of verb group
11 Syntactic categories: Preposition group and its elements
12 Syntactic categories: Functions of preposition group
13 Exercises with simple sentences
14 Exercises with complex sentences
15 Final exam
