Course Objective

The aim of this course is to look into subjects such as student profile, teacher profile, language skills and coursebook scientifically with reference to teaching and learning French as a foreign language, to teach basic terms peculiar to the field and to show various currently used language teaching methods with micro in-class applications.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   getting awareness of the foreign language teaching problems and being able to suggest solutions.
2   being able to look into most recently published coursebooks in the subject area critically
3   being able to prepare quick classroom activities.
4   being able to prepare and evaluate exams.
5   being able to find any sources on French language teaching using information and communication technologies and being able to make use of them.

1 Published sources to be used in class and the introduction to the internet websites
2 The importance of French language in private and state schools, and the content of the program
3 A good language learner and teacher profile
4 The introduction to French language teaching (methods) books published in the last decade and studies on the preface information
5 Studies on the article types used in the recent methods books
6 Using images in methods books (images externes-internes)
7 Studies on the additional materials of the methods books (Teachers Book Exercise Book, audial and visual materials)
8 Mid-term exam
9 Exercise techniques used in French language teaching
10 Asking questions exercises
11 Teaching vocabulary using micro teaching method
12 Classroom activities (teaching vocabulary)
13 Classroom activities (teaching grammar)
14 Classroom activities (teaching grammar)
15 Final Exam
