Course Objective

The aim of this course to show the differences of two languages or two cultures by means of translation trials in classrom from French into Turkish and from native language to French and to teach how to overcome translation obstacles that occur because of these differences.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Realizes the delicacy and richness of the native language
2   Develops French vocabulary knowledge
3   Comprehends the importance of translationfor communication among people.
4   Student finds the opportunity for application of his French grammar knowledge that he learnt in prep class and in other classes of his department
5   Develops his skills of using Turkish and French properly.

5 The problems that arise from the structural differences between French and Turkish
6 The problems that arise from the cultural differences

8 The problems that arise from the polysemy
9 Sentence Translation (Fr.-Tr.)

11 Paragraph Translations (Fr.-Tr.)
12 Translation trials from the media.
13 Translation trials
14 Repeated mistakes during the translation and correcting them.
