Course Contents

Week Subject Description
Explaining color as an element of design, color wheel, values and harmonies in a theoretical way and making connections on master pieces. Discussion, evaluation and giving information about the common names and numbers of colors. Painting a Color Wheel: Painting 12 colored wheel with 3 primary color gouache on the top of the bristol paper.
Painting the grades of colors. Using the rest of the paper for the grades of colors and harmony info.
From studio objects painting macro etude according object s real colors on 50x70 by pastel. Repainting it black-white-grays on 25x35 by gouache.(Assignment: Analyzing a master piece with black-white-grey by pencil and gouache) Repainting the same according to mono color harmony on 25x35 by pastel.
Painting the same according to the additive-contrasting color harmony on 25x35 with pastel. Painting the same according to the half-contrasting harmony on 25x35 with pastel. Painting the same according to the T-harmony on 25x35 with pastel.
Repainting an original harmony from studio objects on 50x70 by pastel. Color set of master pieces and examining colored grays.
Organizing a composition on paper by considering vertical-horizontal, figure-ground, space, weight, direction and balance. Determining a harmony.
Using color according to design principles. Applying colored grays of harmony.
Mid-term
Figure-Space/Object-Space: Macro etude; on 50x70, by pencil.
Studying space and depth. Etude molecular structure.
Paper Relief; modeling the 35x50 bristol surface by folding or cutting with a model knife vertically, horizontally or diagonally. After completing it as a whole piece of relief pasting it on a 50x70 bristol paper. Creating a new surface by cutting, folding and repeating without separating the white 2d surface as a relief effect based on the rhythm and balance principles. Completing the white paper relief with a white paper mat.
Organizing with geometric forms; organizing on two 15x15cms on 35x50 bristol the predetermined squares, rectangles, circles and triangles in a vertical-horizontal and diagonal relation. (Assignment: Making a symmetric, 3d illusion and black-grey-white organization on 25x35 by repeating a geometric unit.
Applications with different techniques: The application and theoretical info of some different material used in past. From objects 50x70, colored drawing with every kind of drawer (6hrs) 25x35, application with watercolor technique. (2hrs.)
Applications with different techniques: The application and theoretical info of some different material used in past. From objects 35x50, ink-water (2hrs), 35x50, ink-water, achromatic 35x50, collage (6hrs)
