Course Objective

Forming a multidirectional base in order to understand graphic design. While forming it the evolution of graphic design, design elements and principles, typography, visual perception, latest software and printing technologies will be discussed.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Knowing what art and design, what the place of graphic design in modern life and software and hardware the indispensabilities are.
2   Knowing the plastic elements of graphic design.
3   Knowing tools, menus and panels in Adobe Illustrator.
4   Knowing visual principles of grafic design.
5   Can work with plastic elements.
6   Can work with visual principles.
7   Knowing type tool and paragraphs in Adobe Illustrator.
8   Knowing visual perception and Gestalt Theory.

1 Art and design concepts. Role of graphic design in modern life. Hardware and software, the must-haves of modern graphic design. (Theorical)
2 The plastic elements of graphic design. (Dot, line, texture, shape, space...)
3 The interfaces of Adobe Illustrator, tools, menus and panels.
4 Works with plastic elements (Dot and lines)
5 Works with plastic elements (Siluetting with pen tool)
6 Works with plastic elements (Texture with letters)
7 Visual Principles in graphic design (contrast, proportion, hierarchy, stress, balance) (theoretical)
