Course Objective

Working on canvas originally by using art history knowledge. Having visual, cultural, theoretical knowledge and skill in order to differentiate piece of art and kitsch. Developing a project and an original mean of expression by using elements and principles of design. Preparing a text explaining his/her understanding and style.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Knowing Kitsch s art historical process, artists, manifestations, information on printed and digital media. 2   Forming a research and Project subject folio and presenting as a seminar. 3   Creating original compositions according his/her tendencies with sketches, drafts and plans. 4   Working on conceptual panting and balance. 5   Researching about the book: The End of the Art. Discussing the content and knowing the artists. 6   Applying the composition of space and nude with his/her way of expression on canvas. 7   Organizing with his/her knowledge and original way of expression without a subject and applying on canvas. 8   Applying the composition on canvas.

Week Subject Description 1 Piece of Art and Kitsch: Researching art history, artists, manifestations, printed and digital sources. 2 Preparing a research and Project file. Presenting as a seminar. 3 Original composition studies according his/her tendencies with sketch, draft and plans. 4 Conceptual painting: Trying New means of expression by relating personal means of expression with conceptual painting on canvas. (80X100 and over) 5 Conceptual painting and balance: Balance a basic element with all elements of his/her arrangement in his/her experience. 6 Conceptual painting and balance: Finishing applying on canvas. 7 Researching about the book: The End of the Art. Discussion the content, knowing related artists. 8 Mid-term 9 Nude: Can apply the composition of space and nude with his/her way of expression on canvas.
