Course Objective

Defining philosophy of art and aesthetics, considering the questions about art and beauty for ages, getting to know the world of ideas of the philosophers(Platon, Aristoteles, Plotinos, Kant, Hegel, Marks, Plehanov, Lukacs, Croce, Nietzsche, Adorno ) interpreted art since antiquity, letting students to make their own interpretations after evaluating student s point of views.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Be informed about the content of the course, reminding previous info, knowing bibliography.
2   Learning the questions that Philosophy of Art and Aesthetics, writing their own ideas and interpretations.
3   Knowing the social and individual functions of art with the help of visuals
4   Learning Platon, Aristoteles and Plotinos ideas about art
5   Learning Baumgarten, Kant, Hegel and Schiller s ideas about art.
6   Learning Tolstoy, Plehanov, Lukacs and Fischer s ideas about art.
7   Learning Croce, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and Freud s ideas about art.
8   Learning Sartre and Adorno's ideas about art. Discussing and comparing the ideas of philosophers from antiquity to modern days.
