Course Objective

To teach structure of atom and molecules, energy levels, wave functions,
electromagnetic transitions, atomic and molecular spectroscopy.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To solve the Schrödinger equation for hydrogen atom
2   To learn Dirac presentation of wave functions
3   To learn some terms of Atomic Hamiltonian
4   To learn Atomic Spectroscopy
5   To apply perturbation theory to atomic physics
6   To learn molecular structure and molecular spectroscopy

9 Hyperfine splitting for LS coupling
10 Hund's rules
11 JJ-coupling
12 Radiative transitions rules, magnetic interaction, hyperfine interaction and Helium atom in many-electron atoms
13 Molecular physics and molecular binding energy
14 Rotational and vibrational states of molecules, two-electron atoms and electronic rotational and vibrational spectras of molecules.

Assessment Criteria

1. The homework and mid-term exams of the student is assessed as the achievement of them in the semester.
2. At % 60 score of final examination is added directly to the others.

1. It is obligated to continue at least %70 of lessons.
2. If the student don t make him homework and attend mid-terms, he does not access the
final exam.
