Course Objective

We aim the understanding of the basic concepts of the economic science by means of consumer equilibrium (utility maximization), producer equilibrium (profit maximization) and the price mechanism in different markets. From the macroeconomic point of view, we analyze money, inflation, national income, employment, aggregate supply, aggregate demand, European Union and economic integration process. By the way, students gain the actual economic knowledge necessary for the efficiency of their solutions to legal procedures as future lawyers.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Ability to explain the basic concepts of the economic science and the behaviors of economic agents by both, micro and macro approaches.
2   Ability to compare different economic systems and economic thoughts.
3   Ability to explain market types and the pricing in these different market types.
4   Ability to explain the consumer and producer equilibrium.
5   Ability to define the role and the importance of money in an economy.
6   Ability to explain the national income and discuss the problems of employment and unemployment
7   Ability to analyze the private (consumption, investment) and public expenditures and savings.
