Course Objective

The objective is to examine the rules and concepts of Turkish social security system. Besides, it is aimed to comprehend the complex structure of social security legislation on easy terms by students.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to define the fundamental concepts and principles of social security law 2   To be able to explain the regulations of social security law 3   To be able to solve the disputes concerning social security law in terms of regulations and judicial decisions 4   To be able to criticize the current system of social security 5   To be able to offer a solution to the problems encountered in social security law with regard to positive and normative law

Week Subject Description 1 Application area of social insurance to persons 2 Overlap of the status of insurance 3 Beginning of the insurance, its duration and termination 4 Integration of insurance periods and voluntary insurance 5 Status of family members of the insured person, the concept of employer, employers representative and subcontractor in social security law, area of application of social insurance 6 Premiums as financial source of social insurance and action for fixing of period of service 7 Accident at work and occupational illness 8 Benefits provided to the insured person and the right holders within the scope of the insurance of accident at work and occupational illness 9 Illness insurance and maternity insurance 10 Invalidity insurance 11 Old age insurance 12 Death insurance and unemployment insurance 13 Mid-term exam
