Course Objective

Teaching French counterparts of basic legal terminology, translating legal texts from Turkish to French and from French to Turkish, making progress for being able to do debate on legal issues.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Being able to possess French counterparts of basic legal concepts
2   Being able to interpret national and international Courts' decisions.
3   Being able to exchange ideas, both written and oral, on basic legal issues.
4   Being able to prepare studies such as seminar, homework, project, depending on the instructor and the student's preferences and trends, notably on the second semester topics of the courses: Private intenational law, execution and bankruptcy law, labour law, maritime commerce law, securities and insurance law, inheritance law, law of social security, criminal procedure law, administrative procedure law.
5   Being able to possess terminology regarding human rights, fundamental freedoms and rights, fundamental principles of law.

1 Giving information on the basic legal terminology
2 Preparation of a specific legal text by using basic legal terminology
3 Translating national and/or international court's decision by summarizing
4 Preparation of a request of individual petition for the ECtHR
5 Preparation of the cassation petition
6 Norm translation and its analysis
7 Interpretation of Courts' decisions relating different issues
8 Translating a specific scientific article by summaraizing
9 Translating a specific monograph by summarizing
10 Interpretation of current legal events by taking into consideration newspapers' news.
11 Doing debate on current legal events by taking into consideration magazines' news.
12 Evaluation of presentations, projescts, seminars prepared by students individually or in groups.
