Course Objective

To learn the historical development and the characteristics of Turkish and Islamic art, to recognize primarily architectural works, the riches of art formed in the Turkish and Islamic world.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Student reviews the concepts of art and Islamic art.
2   Recognizes the important works of architecture in Islamic geography.
3   Describes the historical development of mascid, mosques, madrasas, caravanserais and tomb architecture.
4   Describes the period features of the architecture of Seljuks, Beyliks and Ottomans
5   Recognizes the architecture, ornament and other Turkish decorative arts.
