Course Objective

To make clear the process of establishing, development, and institutionalising of Islamic education in history. To research the Verses and Traditions that effected on Islamic understanding of science and therefore on Islamic education system. To look the developments of education in Islamic culture by starting from prophet Muhammed. To analyse the institution of Madrasah and its developmental stages in history.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Student will understand the Islamic look on education and learning
2   They will be able to explain some theories in Islamic education and their developmental levels
3   They will be able to settle a relation between general educational and learning theories with specific one in Islamic education system
4   They will gain the ability of analysing that the developments in institutions of Madrasah and what their backgrounds are.
5   They will learn the new elements and basic dynamics that are the backgrounds of process of transformation to Republican era.

9 The institutions of education and learning until the period of Madrasah
10 The madrasah before Ottomans and their features
11 Classical educational understandings of Ottomans
12 The establishing the Ottoman s madrasahs and the early madrasahs
13 General features and structures of Ottoman s madrasah
14 The reasons of decomposing in madrasahs
