Course Objective

To provide students a general knowledge on sample Ottoman Turkish texts, text commentary, text analyze; and to enrich the ability of reading and understanding the old texts; to show that the religious texts are not only in Arabic and Persian but also in Turkish there are very much abundant text and to meet students with these texts.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Will know the religious works written by Turkish scholars.
2   Will know the literary works written by Turkish men of letters.
3   Will be aware of the contributions of Turks into Islam.
4   Will gain the ability of reading, understanding, and benefiting from religious-literary texts.
5   Will be able to read text tombstone, incriptions, plate...and so on.
