Course Objective

To help the students to learn the historical development of Turkish Quran Translation,
to teach them the Quran translation resources,
to show the methods of translations,
to compare Quran translations in order to understand and realize meaning of the Quran in the best way.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   They acquire the qualification of understanding the Quran translation.
2   They acquire the qualification of interpreting the Quran translation.
3   The students who have seen the historical process of the translations, they obtain skills and abilities in translating the Noble Quran.
4   They witness richness of Quran in terms of meaning.
5   They learn the differences and the similarities of the Quran translations.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Translations of Duha, Inshirah and Tin chapters.
2 Translations of Ikhlas, Falaq and Nas chapters.
3 Translations of the different ayats: Ayat al Kursi (Baqarah/255), the last two verses of Baqarah (285-286), the last three verses of Hashr (22-24), Nahl/90, Ahzab/56.
4 Some translations from the chapter of En'am.
5 Some translations from the chapter of A'raf.
6 Some translations from the chapter of Baqarah.
7 Some translations from the chapter of Tawbah.
8 Mid-term Exam
9 Some translations from the chapter of Ahzab.
10 Translations of verses about salat and zakat.
11 Translation of Mudayana verse (Baqarah/282).
12 The commentary of Asr chapter.
13 Translation of the chapter of Hujurat (1).
14 Translation of the chapter of Hujurat (2).
15 Final Exam
