Course Objective

To introduce Turkish commentaries to the students, to show their places in the history of tafsir, to have them to comprehend the characteristics of the commentaries written in this period, to teach the line of the development in the field of tafsir.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students will obtain knowledge about the Tafsir Movements in Republic Era.
2   Those who do not have opportunities to read Arabic commentaries can read some parts from Turkish commentaries written in this period.
3   The students will learn basic features of Turkish commentaries.
4   They know the commentaries written in whole or in partial e.i. ayat/verse and surah/chapter commentaries.
5   The students learn the commentaries which translated into Turkish in this period.

Course Contents

1 Commentaries of Fil, Quraish, Maun, Kavsar and Kafirun chapters.
2 Commentaries of Nasr, Tabbat, Ihlas, Falaq and Nas chapters.
3 Some samples from the differnt ayats: Ayat al Kursi (Baqarah/255), the last two verses of Baqarah (285-286), the last three verses of Hashr (22-24), Nahl/90, Ahzab/56.
4 Some samples from the chapter of An'am.
5 Some samples from the chapter of A'raf.
6 Some samples from the chapter of Baqarah.
7 Some samples from the chapter of Tawbah.
8 Mid-term Exam
9 Some samples from the chapter of Ahzab.
10 The commentary of verses about marriage and divorce.
11 The commentary of Mudayana verse (Baqarah/282).
12 The commentary of Surah of Hujurat (1).
13 The commentary of Surah of Hujurat (2).
14 Some samples from Abraham story (Maryam/41-50).
15 Final Exam
