Course Objective

To introduce the banking sector which is an important part of the financial system and other financial institutions.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To evaluate the importance of financial markets and institutions operating in the economy
2   To describe the concepts regarding the banking sector
3   To discuss the distinctive aspects of the financial crisis having an impact on the banking sector
4   To evaluate policies aimed at preventing financial crises
5   To discuss Basel II Capital Accord as risk-reducing arrangement
6   To evaluate the legal regulations regarding the institutions that operating in the financial markets, in the scope of its activities
7   To describe the activities of the banks for the financing of foreign trade
