Course Objective

The course Environmental Problems and Policies is a basic course of Public Administration and provides students with information and skill about the basic processes of environmental administration and about governance. The course provides a framework where legal and administrative bases with respect to the phenomenon of environment are evaluated, the mechanisms that will eliminate or minimize environmental risks& problems and the effects of these risks are defined and international documents that aim to guarantee the sustainability of the environment are examined.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to learn the main philosophy of environmental protection
2   To evaluate for Turkey the basic principles of the approach of undisturbed natural environment
3   To analyze the national legislation on environment, to put forward strategies that will ensure the balance of environmental conservation
4   To use in line with the principles of sustainable environment and sustainable development,
5   To evaluate national environmental organizations with environmental and economic dimensions,
6   To determine the reasons for the implementation problems of Turkey about environmental protectionist approaches and to develop strategies for eliminating management and implementation problems considering integrated governance,
7   To acquire a management skill to provide strategic thinking.
