Course Objective

It is aimed to give information on the estimation of future demands for movement; the design of a series of alternative transportation plans according with community aims and objectives and evaluation of alternative transportation plans, in both economic and social aspects.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to associate the transportation demand and land use characteristics
2   To be able to compare the different transportation modes
3   To be able to estimate the effects of passenger behaviours on mode choice
4   To be able to evaluate the trip distributions on transportation system
5   To be able to analyze the consequences of the regulations related to the travel demand and transport policies
6   To be able report and present the findings about the transportation system

5 Trip generation (cont.), prediction methods, category analysis
6 Trip distribution, uniform factor method, average factor method, growth factor method
7 Trip distribution by growth factor (cont.), Fratar method, Detroit method
8 Trip distribution by synthetic methods, gravity model and numeric examples
9 Trip distribution by synthetic methods (cont.), multiple linear regression method and numeric examples
10 MID-TERM EXAM
11 Modal split, factors influencing modal split, characteristics of trip, passenger and transportation system
