Course Objective

Students taking this course will learn all the processes in a construction project from conceptual planning to completion of the structure and the roles of engineers and architects who participate in the project. Concepts and skills that are required for civil engineers who could find themselves in managerial positions will be given in this course, such as cost estimating, bidding, progress payments, scheduling and safety.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Ability to take managerial responsibility in managing construction project
2   Having knowledge of existing laws and legislation on construction industry
3   Ability to make decisions based on criteria such as time, cost, quality, safety, ethics, environment and public health throughout the project life cycle from design to completion stage.
4   Ability to blend into international construction projects.
5   Have a command of a knowledge on English construction management terminology
