Course Objective

The purpose of the summer practice is to provide the opportunity to observe how theoretical knowledge learned by students in undergraduate lessons is used in the field of application. Students will gain experience in business life and observe the methods of functioning of the firms within the scope of site and office internships.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   At the end of this course the students will be able to introduce material, equipment and machinery used for site construction applications.
2   to establish relationships between construction methods used in practice and information gained from the lessons learned.
3   to explain the schedules used in construction sites and projects with examples.
4   to explain the method of using Civil Engineering software with examples.
5   to report the knowledge and skills gained at site and office practice by an objective approach.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 The recognition of staff and equipment of firm, site or office that will be dealed within the period of internship.
2 Investigation on projects and/or constructions that will be dealed within the period of internship.
3 Investigation on projects and/or constructions that will be dealed within the period of internship.
4 Preparation of the internship report, if necessary research will be performed on required topics.

Recomended or Required Reading

All lecture notes can be used depending on the internship type. In addition, internet and library resource can be used for report writing.

Observations made during the training period, prepared or implemented projects, photographs taken at site applications, preparation of training and internship report notes.

Note: * pass / fail grade will be given by evaluating site and office internship report. If necessary training commission may request a presentation from trainee.

Assessment Criteria

All learning outcomes will be evaluated by training report and if found necessary by oral examination.

Internship attendance, report preparation and submission in accordance with writing rules if necessary oral examinations of trainee are the minimum conditions for the acceptance of the internship.
