Course Objective

Potential and field concepts, Definitions of scalar, vector and related formula, Vector operators (gradient, divergent, curl), Gauss and Stokes theories, Gravity, Magnetic potentials and their various applications

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to use the fundamental knowlegde of mathematics and physics which were learned at first two midterms.
2   To be able to use the equations related to scaler and vectorel concepts on potantial field (gravity-magnetic) applications.
3   To be able to apply the vectorel operators (gradient,divergens, curl) on different examples.
4   To be able to use the concepts of Gauss, Stokes and Green on geophysical applications.
5   To be able to interpret data as the results of gravity potantial and different geophysical application
6   To be able interpret the outputs of different geopysical modelling by using the relationship between magnetic potantial and its components.

2 Definitions of Vector - Scaler and Operators
3 Definitions and formula of vector and scaler, gradient-divergent-curl operators
4 Their physical descriptions and applications of the operators
5 Gauss-divergens theorem, Stokes-curl theory and Green theorems
6 Newton attraction law, Newton potential, Gravity attraction
7 Mid-term exam I.
8 Applications to different mass and models
9 Logaritmic potential and attraction
10 Applications to different mass and models
11 Definition of dipol and magnetic potential
12 Magnetic field components and relations between them
13 Mid-term exam II
14 Applications to known geometric shaped masses
