Course Objective

According to the desired properties of natural stones at using areas, Natural Stones standards, quality control laboratory tests, CE mark, mandatory and optional tests

1   To have information about quality control methods at natural stones 2   To have information about the standards of natural stones 3   To organize and manage laboratory testing processes in natural stones 4   To decide for the intended use of natural stones according to experimental results 5   To control the quality of natural stones according to international standards

Week Subject Description 1 Natural stone products and quality control parameters 2 National and international standardization in natural stone 3 Used standards for quality control of natural stone 4 Used standards for quality control of natural stone 5 Determination of the physical properties of natural stone by lab. tests 6 Specific Gravity, Apparent density determination of total and open porosity, water absorption tests 7 Roughness, hardness, brightness, the determination of the speed of sound experiments in progress 8 MIDTERM 9 Determination of the mechanical properties of natural stone by lab. tests 10 Compressive strength, flexural strength, abrasion and slip resistance etc. experiments 11 Weathering properties in natural stone 12 Rust hazard, acid resistance, salt crystallization experiments ... etc. 13 CE marking and Green Label applications 14 Obligatory and optional tests in the CE marking at natural stone
