Course Objective

In this course the students will learn the basics of the main thermal processes used in mineral processing. General knowledge about the subject will be given in form of mini lectures and visual presentations. Promotion of the self-learning, individual project preparation and presentation abilities of the students is the prime goal of this course.

3   Design of thermal processing plants used in mineral processing
4   Automation and preparing of P&ID in thermal processes

3 Thermal drying plants, theoretical and practical knowledge. Problem solving
4 Roasting and calcination, theoretical and practical knowledge. Problem solving
5 Roasting and calcination plants visual presentation, discussions
6 Introduction of the project
7 Pelletizing and sintering, theoretical and practical knowledge. Problem solving
8 Mid-term examination
9 Presentation of the project and discussions
10 Theoretical and practical knowledge about designing of a coal drying plant
11 Coal drying plant, problem solving
12 Automation in thermal processes, general knowledge
13 Preperation of P&I diagram of a coal drying plant
14 Presentation of an Excell based calculation model for drying plants and discussions
