Course Objective

The course objective is to give the students a basic knowledge on the mechanism of heat transfer by radiation as well as the basis on solar angles and the calculation of these angles. Knowledge of how to make a project for domestic water heating system by solar energy is also given in this course.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Define the basic concepts related to solar energy.
2   Use of charts for hot water preparation with solar energy systems projects.
3   Ability to calculate and to make projects for hot water preparation with solar energy systems.
4   To calculate the angles of related to the sun and day length.
5   To calculate the local time and solar time.

1st, 2nd and 3rd learning outcomes will be assessed by the 1st midterm exam 4th and 5th learning outcomes will be assessed by the 2nd midterm exam. All the learning outcomes will be assessed by the final exam.
