Course Objective

Aim of the seminar is to create awareness about the social and environmental effects of engineering applications, give information about the essential working ethic codes, rights and obligations as a worker in textile engineering.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Awareness of the social and environmental effects of engineering applications.
2   Knowledge of working ethic codes for engineering.
3   Ability to analyse ethical behaviours and solve ethical conflicts via case studes.
4   Knowledge and awareness of how textile processes influence the environment and the legal regulations about environment.
5   Knowledge and consciousness of the rights and obligations as a worker or an employer.

1 Section 1: Ethic values and principles in engineering 1.1. Definitions and common knowledge 1.2. Basic ethic values
2 1.3.Basic principles of ethic, the ethical decision process 1.4.Ethical conflict

4 1.6. Evaluation of ethical behaviour, tests applicable during decision process

6 Section 2: Engineering applications and environment 2.1.Introduction and common knowledge: Environment in technical terms, factors influencing the environment, basic approaches about environment
7 2.2.Applications to prevent pollution: waste treatment facilities, filters, solid waste management
8 2.3.Influence of textile factories on environment.
9 2.4.Legal regulations about environment for textile factories.
10 Section 3: Employment law 4.1. Basic terms about individual and common employment law: Employee, apprentice, trainee, employer, employer representative, workin place, factory, employment contract, working hours, free hours, cancellation, consideration money etc
11 4.2.Rights and obligations of employees and examination of the related court decisions with examples
