Course Objective

This course aims to increase the technical terminology knowledge of students and develop the ability to comprehend reading by the selected readings related to metallurgical and materials engineering. Students will be reminded of some important grammer rules and they will be asked to create a team and make a poster presentation of a topic chosen related to metallurgy an materials to the whole department. Besides, a homework on literature survey will be assigned. Also, this course will give students an insight to key concepts of engineering ethics and demonstrate examples of failures and successes in decision making processes. Their evaluations will affect the success of the student.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Increase technical terminology knowledge and develop the ability to comprehend reading.
2   Remember some important grammer rules.
3   Gain effective oral and written communication skills by performing oral presentations.
4   Gain the ability to work as a team by performing oral presentations.
5   Gain the ability to access scientific kowledge by learning literature survey.
6   Get a general idea on engineering ethics and professionalism.
