Course Objective

This course aims to provide the students to comprehend the reasons of the formations and developments of human settlements and the form of interference of spatial rationals which are depending on time and geography, to define the developing conditions of human settlements from the first settlements to the mids of the 20. Century, to explain the transformation casualities of the settlements in a historical perspective and to discuss the settlement systems in a framework of socio-cultural and economic relations.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Will be able to define the first formation and growth process of shelter and settlement in the historical process (Knowledge)
2   Will be able to describe the differencies depending on time and space of the settlements and cities (Knowledge)
3   Will be able to list the effects and justifications of socio and economic causes on formation of the space (Knowledge)
4   Will be able to list the formation and growth process of the cities in historical process (Knowledge)
5   Will be able to tell the forms of explanation on the development and growth process of urban areas (Knowledge)
6   Will be able to explain the types of settlements and it's spatial components (Knowledge)
