Course Objective

This course targets at providing students the knowledge and skills in transfer of various data to electronic environment, use of analysis and questioning methods, mapping the obtained data and analyses, drawing of plans within adopted norms of implementation plan drawing, estimation of population and area for the implementation plans, animation of drawings, visualization and presentation in computer environment, all via use of NETCAD, the mostly-used drawing software for city planning in our country.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To list the commands required for use of NETCAD software
2   To transform base maps and data of city planning into formats compatible with computing,
3   To prepare maps where city planning data and analyses can be displayed,
4   To relate different planning data with one another,
5   To produce digital implementation plans conforming to norms of design and lejand as described in related bylaws.

Course Contents

1 Introduction, general concepts of NETCAD software, information on items of the menu
2 Introduction of the NETCAD menu and basic commands
3 Introduction of the NETCAD menu and basic commands
4 Description of coordinate systems, transfer of base maps into digitalized maps, rastering and affine transformation, transformation of maps on different scales (from Slice to Slice and from Projection to Projection).
5 Slope and altitude analysis on land models, threshold analysis and questioning modules
6 Data sources, data collection and classification methods, different databases, creation of databases, organization and analysis.
7 Digitalization, identification of classes and data entry, data questioning and related mapping of questions
8 Digitalization, identification of classes and data entry, data questioning and related mapping of questions
9 Midterm Examination
10 Computer-based drawing of implementation plans
11 Computer-based drawing of implementation plans
12 Computer-based drawing of implementation plans
13 Computer-based drawing of implementation plans, preparation of lejands, estimation of population and area size
14 Transfer of data into Google Earth, 3D presentation
